Disney has announced the upcoming closure of the Captain EO film at Walt Disney World. The attraction, housed in Epcot’s Magic Eye Theater, will close December 6 and will be replaced by “Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival.” This 4D experience will “include a look into the visionary minds behind some of the world’s most iconic animated films today.” Guests will wear 3D glasses and watch three animated shorts come to life.
Captain EO had its initial run from 1986 to 1994 and then returned in 2010 after Jackson’s death. It was always listed as being “temporary,” but until now, no end date had been announced.
No opening date for the new attraction has been announced.
