FIRST LOOK at Muppets Props on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney World

Disney has shared a new behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, and the first glimpse at props inside the load area makes one thing very clear. This is not going to be a subtle overlay.

The preview comes from the debut episode of Pardon Our Pixie Dust, a new video series highlighting projects from Walt Disney Imagineering. While the episode touches on multiple updates around Walt Disney World, the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster segment gives fans their first real look at how the Muppets will take over the attraction.

The crate labeled “The Great Gonzo Weird Stuff” sets the tone right from the start.

The space is full of chaotic, blink-and-you-miss-it gags that feel as though they came right out of a Muppets workshop. There are rubber chickens, feathers scattered everywhere, mismatched props, and what looks like a random assortment of backstage junk that somehow tells a story.

It’s messy, but in the best way possible.

Additional details suggest a more fun narrative is taking shape. A small robot figure holding a plunger sits perched on top of one crate, while laundry hangs overhead like a makeshift dressing area. There’s even a vintage camera tucked into the set, adding to the feeling that this is part backstage, part performance space, and part complete nonsense.

And then there’s the tone. That’s what stands out most.

This doesn’t look polished or corporate. It looks like something the Muppets threw together five minutes before showtime. That’s exactly why it works.

While we don’t have the full story just yet, based on what’s visible here, the load area really leans into The Great Gonzo and his brand of chaotic showmanship. If this carries through the rest of the attraction, guests can expect a very different experience from the previous high-energy rock concert theme.

Construction is still ongoing, and this is all still a work in progress. But if these early props are any indication, the Muppets aren’t just being added to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. They’re taking it over completely. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets opens on May 26, 2026!
