According to an exclusive article by Drew Taylor at TheWrap, the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel that cost the company $1 billion to build at Walt Disney World is set to become offices for Walt Disney Imagineering. Taylor says that “several sources, including an individual close to the company,” confirmed that the space will be used by teams responsible for the creation of upcoming areas around the theme parks like Tropical Americas coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park, the Cars and Disney Villains-themed lands in Magic Kingdom, and the Monster’s, Inc. land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser opened to guests on March 1, 2022, offering 2-night experiences with exorbitant prices. Die-hard Star Wars fans who had the chance to stay there loved the adventure and wanted to return and do it again. For the most part, the complaints about it revolved around its cost. Unfortunately, the most immersive resort where guests could become the hero of their own Star Wars story closed permanently on September 30, 2023. The company took a big loss with the closure but decided it was the best decision as the experience did not perform how it would’ve liked.
After its closure, there was all kinds of speculation about what could happen with the shuddered experience. Some said that the space might be used for some kind of a dinner theater, while others suggested that it could remain a resort with completely different themes like Guardians of the Galaxy and more.
TheWrap has now been told, quite firmly, that the building will not be accessible to guests at all.

With the theming in this resort blowing most Star Wars fans’ minds, it feels like a good use for the building now that we know it won’t be used for guests. Everyone is so different when it comes to sparking their imaginations, and seeing what is possible when you walk into work every day could be really successful for Imagineers.
