Disney and Lucasfilm announced today that Star Wars Force Friday II is coming on September 1, 2017. This weekend-long global fan event will celebrate the launch of Star Wars: The Last Jedi and will have all kinds of toys (including LEGO!!!), collectibles, books, and apparel that will go on sale beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017 – so, be sure to set your alarm clocks.
The packaging for this new line of merchandise has also been revealed and features Rey, Poe Dameron, and Finn ready to take on the Dark Side. Fans may remember that merchandise featuring Rey was not abundantly available for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so this new packaging may or may not reveal a little something about that – we’ll just have to wait and see.
The last time this exciting event took place was back in 2015 when hundreds of thousands of Star Wars fans showed up at stores around the world at midnight to be one of the first to get their hands on merchandise from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. A crazy amount of photos displaying their purchases were shared all over social media using the hashtag #ForceFriday which produced nearly 3 billion Twitter impressions alone.
Much like when the event took place in 2015, details on products for Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be kept top secret until Force Friday II to preserve the element of surprise for fans. “As well as introducing new characters from the movie in toy form, the line will build on the success of products like Sphero’s BB-8, introducing more innovative technology to bring the characters and stories from the film to life in unique ways.”
