The changes continue in Epcot’s Future World as Mouse Gear, the flagship Disney merchandise store for the park, opened its new temporary location this morning. You’ll find Mouse Gear’s temporary store located just behind Electric Umbrella in the space that formerly housed Colortopia.
Black plastic covers the doors and most of the windows of Mouse Gear’s former location. During construction, Future World East will be its new home.
As you would expect with a temporary location, Mouse Gear’s new spot is one large room. Those who designed the store did the best they could to inject the space with charm, and I liked that some of the merchandise racks from the old location may their way across the breezeway to the new shop. Keep in mind that, unlike Mouse Gear’s former location, there is only one way in and out of this new store. DIS Unplugged listener, Daniel, pointed this out to me, and he’s right in thinking that, at park closing, one way in or out might be tough to navigate.
You can find much of what you’ve grown accustomed to finding in the old location, including dated merchandise, here. 2020 logo gear is plentiful.
Guests on the hunt for the perfect Minnie ear headband or baseball cap will be in luck. While it’s not the largest selection, it’ll surely do.
As you might expect, the newest Disney color collection, Belle of the Ball Bronze, is prominently displayed in Mouse Gear’s temporary location. Everything from matching spirit jerseys to Minnie ear headbands to phone wristlets can be found here.
Not to be outdone by Belle of the Ball Bronze, both Arendelle Aqua and Briar Rose Gold merchandise can be purchased here as well.
Baby Yoda (ahem…I mean The Child) socks, along with Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker action figures and toys, are available for purchase here, but, unfortunately, the incredibly popular spirit jersey featuring The Child was not.
The new retro line of kitchenware featuring Minnie Mouse is available. The line is very cute, and Mouse Gear has a vast selection of matching items to choose from.
What would a Disney vacation be without a new coffee mug to remember it by? You’ll have your pick in this temporary location.
Loungefly backpacks and Dooney and Bourke bags also made their way to the new location, but the selection is not as abundant as in the old location. A selection of jewelry is also available at the new location, but, again, it is not as large as it was in the old space.
Clothes for all ages and stages are available for purchase as well, including the recently introduced child’s Mickey Mouse puffy vest. I’m wondering if I could make that work for me. Hmmm…
Last, but certainly not least, there are toys. A large swath of the back of the store is dedicated to toys of all kinds.
Plush toys, including Disney babies and Wishables, are available to adopt as well.
All in all, I was impressed with the new space. It was more than I thought it would be, and certainly larger than I expected. I loved everything about the old Mouse Gear: the hand and arm swinging overhead, the music, the sound of gears turning, the vast selection of merchandise, and, especially, the cast members who patiently helped me find whatever random merchandise item I was trying to hunt down at the time.
I can’t wait to see what the Imagineers dream up for the new Mouse Gear. In the meantime, I’ll keep my eyes on the prize and be thankful for the biggest element that has remained the same from the old location to the temporary one: the cast members.
