New artisanal items on the menu at Gasparilla Island Grill

We reported in December that Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa reopened after a lengthy refurbishment, but Disney Parks Blog is now sharing some of the new menu items.

The area is broken into several food stations, including hot sandwiches and pizzas, sandwiches and salads, and coffee and desserts.

At the Sandwich Bar, guests can watch their sandwiches being freshly made in front of them. The ingredients will all be plated in a glass display for diners to choose from. Some of the new items will include “Tillamook Cheddar on the smoked ham sandwich, Florida orange vinaigrette on the roasted turkey, thick slices of Mozzarella on the grilled vegetable sandwich and roast beef with horseradish.” Sandwiches will be served with house-made chips. A create-your-own salad bar has been added to the restaurant as well. In the mornings, this station will serve yogurt with a variety of toppings available.

The hot sandwich and pizza station will offer thin crust pizzas that cook in 90 seconds at 840 degrees. The pizza dough is made fresh daily in the Grand Floridian Bakery. In addition to a standard tomato-based sauce, there are also cream sauce and basil pesto options. An new artisanal burger will be on the menu, as well as a Mahi Mahi “Reuben,” and a Chicken & Brie sandwich.

The last station offers specialty coffees and baked goods, including coconut pot de crème, almond fruit tart, and more.

Grand Floridian Executive Scott Hunnel, Grand Floridian Executive Pastry Chef Erich Herbitschek, and Chef Noah Estabrook worked together on the new menu.

Leah grew up in a little farming town in Illinois, right on the Mississippi River. Her Chicago-born husband, David, left the city for her, and they're now raising their three children (Jacob, Jonah and Lydia) just 12 miles from her hometown. As the Senior Editor of the DIS (wdwinfo.com), Leah spends a lot of time writing about, reading about, and discussing Disney. So, it should come as no surprise that one of her family's favorite ways to spend time is going to Walt Disney World and traveling on Disney Cruise Line. She also enjoys shopping, watching movies with her husband and doing crafts with and for her kids.
