If you’re always looking for an excuse to try something new at Magic Kingdom, Disney just gave you three.
Disney Eats has announced a trio of new menu items arriving at the park beginning Tuesday, July 21, with one new offering at Golden Oak Outpost and two additions at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe. Whether you’re in the mood for something sweet, savory, or a little of both, there’s a good chance one of these will end up on your list.
The one that immediately caught my attention is the new Hot Honey Chicken Strips at Golden Oak Outpost. Instead of the usual fries, this basket comes with sweet potato waffle fries topped with marshmallows and candied pecans. Add crispy chicken drizzled with hot honey, and you’ve got one of those combinations that sounds a little unexpected until you see the photo. Then it suddenly makes perfect sense.
Over at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe, Disney is adding a Barbecue Bacon Cheeseburger made with an Angus beef patty, American cheese, house-made bacon jam, and barbecue sauce. It comes with French fries and looks like a solid upgrade if you’re craving something a little heartier than the restaurant’s usual quick-service fare.
Pecos Bill is also getting a new dessert that’s hard to ignore. The Churro Loops are tossed in cinnamon sugar and served with a side of house-made chocolate sauce for dipping. They’re essentially bite-sized loops of churro instead of the traditional long stick, and they look like the kind of snack that’s going to have people stopping just because they spotted someone else carrying them through Frontierland.
Disney hasn’t shared whether these menu items are permanent additions or available for a limited time, so if one of them has your name on it, you may not want to wait too long to give it a try.
Looking at all three, I think a lot of folks will probably make a beeline for the Hot Honey Chicken Strips first. Disney has been getting more adventurous with loaded fries and sweet-and-savory combinations over the last few years, and this feels like another fun addition to that lineup. Then again, those Churro Loops might end up stealing the spotlight. Something tells me we’re going to be seeing plenty of those all over social media once they arrive.
