Today, Disneyland released a sketch of the gingerbread house that will be built inside this year’s Haunted Mansion Holiday.
Each year, bakers and artists create a masterpiece of actual gingerbread to grace the table in the ballroom scene of the attraction. This year’s includes 200 pounds of gingerbread, 200 pounds of powdered sugar, 4 gallons of egg whites, a gallon of lemon juice, 50 pounds of fondant, and 1/3 pound of glitter.
The 2016 gingerbread house is inspired by the familiar Haunted Mansion ghost that is usually seen entombing himself in his own grave…but this time, he’s stitching himself inside the mansion itself using pieces of gingerbread and other treats.
Haunted Mansion closed this week to begin its annual makeover and will reopen on September 9, 2016 when HalloweenTime begins at the Disneyland Resort.
