Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort


September 6 - October 31, 2019


The Disneyland Resort in Southern California goes all out for their 'Halloween Time' celebration!


When entering Disneyland Park, you will be greeted with by the famous ‘Mickey Planter’ as it’s transformed into a canvas of pumpkins and even Mickey is wearing a mask for the celebration. You'll see oversized pumpkin versions of Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy on display.

In Town Square there's the 12-foot high Mickey ‘jack-o-lantern’ complete with pumpkin ears. Main Street U.S.A. also features over 300 carved pumpkins on display in the shop windows. Colorful orange and yellow bunting will adorn the Victorian architecture. Surrounding the ‘Partners’ statue of Walt and Mickey will be pumpkins inspired by Disney characters.

The Haunted Mansion has been transformed into a Tim Burton's ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ theme. If you’ve never seen Haunted Mansion Holiday, make sure to include it in your plans this holiday season. You won’t be sorry!

The characters will have a different look when they join in the spirit of the season and appear in their Halloween costumes and the Disney Villains will be out in full force at both parks to celebrate their favorite time of year.


At California Adventure, Buena Vista Street is covered with bats and the Headless Horseman sits in Carthay Circle. In Cars Land, the residents of Radiator Springs are in the Haul-O-Ween spirit and two attractions have some fun new songs for the season. At night, Monsters After Dark take over Guardians of the Galaxy-Mission: BREAKOUT!


In 2019, the after-hours Halloween party moves to California Adventure and will be hosted by Oogie Boogie. Oogie Boogie Bash will feature a brand new Halloween version of World of Color!

Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland park


Mickey's Halloween Party will not be held in 2019. Instead, Disney California Adventure will be hosting the new Oogie Boogie Bash

Halloween Screams Fireworks Spectacular, the Frightfully Fun Parade, familiar attractions including Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy and Haunted Mansion Holiday, music, treat stations for the little ones, creepy crafts and your favorite Disney characters in their favorite costumes are just a few activities available during the party. You never know who you’ll run into on these special nights, oh, and don’t forget to wear your Halloween costumes!

Guests are allowed into Disneyland Park three hours prior to the start of Mickey's Halloween Party. Guests may also visit California Adventure during the three hours before the party!

Frightfully Fun Parade

The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow leads fun parade featuring characters from the Haunted Mansion, and The Nightmare Before Christmas, plus other Disney Villains, including Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog.


In 2018, Disney Junior's Vampirina joins the parade!

Halloween Screams Fireworks Spectacular

Halloween Screams is exclusive to Mickey's Halloween Party and will light up the sky each night of the party. Halloween Screams features Jack Skellington as the show's host who is joined by other classic Disney Villains. Flames, fireworks and music all come together to make this a don't-miss show. 

Special Halloween Photo Locations

Guests will be able to meet some scary favorites like Stormtroopers in Tomorrowland or Jack Skellington in New Orleans Square, plus the Disney Villains take over Town Square. As always, you'll be able to meet your favorite Disney and Pixar characters. Your admission to Mickey's Halloween Party includes complimentary PhotoPass!

Mickey’s Hide-and-Go-Treat Trails

This year there will be new trick-or-treat locations to explore, including areas of the park that guests haven't had a chance to explore before. Disneyland is estimating that they will be giving out close to a half million sweet and healthy treats during the 15 nights of Mickey's Halloween Party this year. Treats include apple slices, carrots, raisins, dried fruit and of course variety of chocolates. Check your map for locations.

Haunted Mansion Holiday

The Haunted Mansion has been transformed into a Tim Burton's ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ theme. If you’ve never seen Haunted Mansion Holiday, make sure to include it in your plans this holiday season, you won’t be sorry!


Each year, the house is a bit different, including the annual gingerbread house in the ballroom scene. Disneyland bakers work several weeks on the custom-made design.


Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy

Once again this year, Space Mountain is transformed into Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy! Move through space and experience surprises around every corner. The spooky special sound track and sound effects add to this must-do for the Halloween season!

Main Street Pumpkin Festival

Main Street U.S.A. is the site of the "Pumpkin Festival." Costumed Characters

Keep your eyes open because you never know who you will see, but will you recognize them? Your beloved Disney Characters will be dressed up in their best costumes and Disney Villains will be out in full force. Don't forget your camera!

Be on the lookout on Main Street, at the Haunted Mansion Holiday, in Fantasyland.

Halloween Treats


Special Halloween Treats will be available throughout the park. Goodies available include Halloween Carmel Apples, Pumpkin Muffins topped with Cream, Mickey Halloween Cookies, Hot Carmel Apple Cider and Pumpkin Cheesecake! You can also find exclusive Haunted Mansion treats at The French Market and Cafe Orleans! If you have a taste for popcorn, Outdoor Vendor's will be selling a special Haunted Mansion Holiday Bucket and Halloween Scoop. This is not the time to start your diet!


Dia de los Muertos

Visit Zocalo Park in Frontierland for the colorful display honoring Dia de los Muertos. You'll find traditional marigolds and papel picado, plus ofrenda, calaveras, and a figure of La Catrina. Zocalo Park is located near Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante.



Disney California Adventure

Disney California Adventure is also getting into the Halloween ‘spirit’ once again this year!


Oogie Boogie Bash - A Disney Halloween Party

This new after hours party, replacing Mickey's Halloween Party, will be held in Disney California Adventure on 20 select nights between September 17 and October 31, 2019. Ticket prices start at $100 for Annual Passholders or $110 for the general public and go up to $145.

Buena Vista Street

The entrance to California Adventure will feature Oogie Boogie looming over the turnstiles. Bats will swarm around the Carthay Circle Theater and a statue of the Headless Horseman is set to appear on Buena Vista Street.


Cars Land Haul-O-Ween

The residents of Radiator Springs have decorated the town...and themselves...for Haul-O-Ween.

Mater's Junkyard Jamboree
will become Mater's Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters will turn into Luigi's Honkin' Haul-O-Ween.

Even the shops and restaurants will get into the fun with Fillmore's Jack-Oil Lanterns, Flo's Spider Car and Witchy Miss Lizzie's.

Plaza de la Familia

Inspired by Disney-Pixar's Coco, Plaza de la Familia will take over the Paradise Gardens area and will feature Mexican food, music, and the traditions of Dia de Los Muertos.


"A Musical Celebration of Coco" will feature storytellers and original songs from Coco performed by folkloric dancers, the Mariachi Divas, and a singing host. In addition, other authentic Mariachi musicians will take the Paradise Gardens Bandstand stage throughout the day. For 2018, a new Miguel marionette will join the music and dancing!


Paradise Gardens will also feature an interactive Tree of Life photo location and Paradise Garden Grill will feature Mexican food.




Guardians of the Galaxy-Monsters After Dark

Each evening after the sun sets, Guardians of the Galaxy-Mission: BREAKOUT! becomes Guardians of the Galaxy-Monsters After Dark. The new adventure continues the story from Mission: BREAKOUT! Rocket has helped the Guardians escape, but Groot has been left behind. It's your job to distract all of the other creatures that have been released, so that Rocket can return and rescue Groot. Guardians of the Galaxy composer Tyler Bates even composed a new song for the Halloween overlay!






Disneyland Resort Hotels

The Halloween Time fun even extends to the hotels of the Disneyland Resort!


In the lobby of the Grand Californian Hotel sits a huge candy pumpkin carved into the shape of Oogie Boogie! Pastry chefs used 200 pounds of icing, 100 pounds of chocolate, and 300 pounds of fondant to build the spooky display. Hidden throughout are 13 hidden Mickeys!



The lobbies of the Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier Hotel are decorated as well. In fact, pirates have taken over the lobby of the Paradise Pier Hotel!



Catch the sounds of a capella performers the Skeletones and the Cryptix as they perform throughout the three hotels.


At Steakhouse 55 in the Disneyland Hotel, their Afternoon Tea becomes Trick or Tea, featuring mulled spice and apple pie tea blends and hot apple cider for the kids. The menu includes a strawberry pecan salad and finger sandwiches made with prime rib, beet deviled egg, or avocado and edamame.




Look for special holiday treats at a holiday cart in the lobby of the Grand Californian, including Halloween-inspired Mickey-shaped cookies, whoopie pies, cake pops, pretzel rods, pumpkin pound cake, and Which Finger Cookies. At the Coffee House in the Disneyland Hotel, grab a chocolate bat cookie. The Surfside Lounge at the Paradise Pier Hotel is pouring pumpkin spice lattes throughout the season.


Trick or Treating


Guests staying at the three hotels are invited to enjoy trick-or-treat festivities on select afternoons 10/02/18-10/31/18. Guests should contact Guests Services to sign up and grab a map. While there, check for other activities, such as coloring pages, mask decorating, and pirate hat making kits. Cookie decorating kits are available for a fee.


Downtown Disney

Look for Scareolers roaming Downtown Disney harmonizing to favorites like, "I Put a Spell on You" and "Grim Grinning Ghosts."



Knott’s Berry Farm

Knott's Scary Farm is a chilling Halloween experience that puts you right in the middle of your worst nightmare, or is it? Billed as the oldest, one of the biggest and the ‘scariest’, is not for the weak at heart or younger children. Little spooks, goblins and princesses will enjoy ‘Camp Spooky Halloween Treasure Hunt’ on weekend through October. Crafts, attractions and fun are offered for the smaller children in your family.

Universal Studios Hollywood

Universal's Halloween Horror Nights is one of the scarier Halloween events in Southern California. With several terrifying mazes plus the "Terror Tram", there's sure to be something to frighten everyone.

Legoland presents ‘Brick-or-Treat’.  During regular daytime hours, Legoland features enormous Lego pumpkins, Trick or Treating, a Brick or Treat Trail with themed Lego spooky houses (not really that spooky) and a costume contest for the kids.

Six Flags Magic Mountain presents 'Fright Fest.’ Another EXTREME Halloween experience that includes roaming zombies, haunted mazes, and dark rides on some of Six Flags scariest coasters.  Some attractions are not for everyone but, younger kids will enjoy Halloween crafts, stage shows and games at Bugs Bunny World’s, ‘Twick or Tweat.’
