SeaWorld has announced that SeaWorld CEO Joel Manby has resigned.
Manby has held his leadership position since 2015.
The company has been struggling for years with a decline in revenue along with the public’s perception of the company due to the anti-captivity documentary Blackfish. According to the Orlando Sentinel,
“Attendance dropped nearly 3 percent in the fourth quarter compared to the same time in 2016, according to the latest earnings report released Tuesday.
Fourth quarter total revenues were $265.5 million, a drop from $267.6 million in the fourth quarter of 2016. Net loss was $20.4 million, the company said.”
Chief Parks Operations Officer, John T. Reilly will fill in for now as interim CEO. Reilly served as park president of SeaWorld San Diego from 2010 until April 2016.
