SeaWorld Entertainment has announced the hiring of a new Chief Financial Officer and Chief Creative Officer.
Peter J. Crage will begin his position of CFO in September, replacing James M. Heaney, who had been with the company since 2012. Heaney previously worked in finance with Disney Cruise Line and has left SeaWorld to return to the cruise industry, though not with his former employer. Crage, 53, leaves a position as CFO at Extended Stay America Inc. He has also been CFO for Cedar Fair LP, who run several amusement parks across the country. Marc Swanson had been filling in since Heaney’s departure, and will return to his position as chief accounting officer.
Anthony Esparza, 54, will join the company as Chief Creative Officer. Scott Helmstedter was previously in this role; he is moving to his native state of California and will act as a consultant for SeaWorld. Esparza comes from a position as senior vice president for guest experiences, design and development at Herschend Enterprises, the company who owns Silver Dollar City and Dollywood.
