The Disney Parks Blog announced today that the 2017 D23 Expo will have an entire pavilion that is going to completely centered around the new Star Wars Land expansions that will be coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the Disneyland Park. The name and logo for the pavilion were announced as well, “Walt Disney Parks and Resorts: A Galaxy of Stories”.
Guests of the Expo will enjoy an inside look at “the locations, starships, creatures and droids that will populate this remote village on the Outer Rim, and experience the world premiere of a detailed model showcasing the immersive 14-acre lands coming to Disney Parks in 2019.” The Disney Imagineers wanted to highlight some of their creative process with “artwork and media on display”.
In case you missed it, it was already announced that Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek will be on the main stage at Hall D23 on Saturday, July 15 at 3 p.m. for a special presentation for “what’s next for resorts around the globe!”
In addition to Chapek’s presentation there will also be additional theme park presentations at the Expo! On Friday, July 14 at 3:30 p.m. in the D23 Expo Arena there will be the Pirates of the Caribbean: 50 Years of Swashbuckling Adventures in Disney Parks presentation. The Pirates of the Caribbean presentation will have Disney Imagineers tell the tale of the attractions origins, and fascinating details, up to the most current iteration of the attraction in Shanghai Disneyland, which is named Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure.
On Sunday, July 16 there will be two presentations. The first will be at 12:15 p.m. and will center around Inspiring Women of Imagineering. In this presentation female Imagineers will share their stories and insider information on what it means to be a female Disney Imagineer. At 2:30 p.m. there will be a Voices of Disney Parks presentation, which will bring iconic the Disney Parks voices together onto one stage!
Lastly it was announced that Mickey’s of Glendale will be back for the 2017 Expo! Mickey’s of Glendale is “the Imagineer-exclusive merchandise store chock full of limited-edition collectibles and souvenirs”. There will even be a limited-edition pin made especially for the expo!
