Recently, the Visual Effects Society (VES) honored Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at their annual awards ceremony. The attraction now open at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park was honored for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Special Venue Project. The VES honors outstanding visual effects in film, television, and other media.
The innovative attraction, which was a collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm, puts guests in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance with cutting-edge technology that blurs the lines between fantasy and reality.
This is the latest in a number of awards for Galaxy’s Edge, including being named among Time Magazine’s World’s Greatest Places 2019, earning an award for Outstanding Achievement-New Park Land from the Themed Entertainment Association, and winning a Lumiere Award for Best Location Based Entertainment from the Advanced Imaging Society, plus a Grammy Award last week for John William’s music inspired by the new land.
