The ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex is having a busy month. Not only is Pro Bowl Week currently taking place, but we are still only one week past the official opening of The Arena. The Arena gives the Walt Disney World Resort a brand new venue to showcase the talents of young athletes in basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, and dance; it also features plenty of food to fill the bellies of the 8,000 spectators it can seat.
In total, The Arena has seven concession stands and thirty-five carts and kiosks, all of which feature new menus. The Disney Parks Blog recently shared some of the highlights of the game-watching grub on offer.
Along with the loaded tater barrel topped with cheese, sour cream, bacon and chives, you’ll find savory food like:
- soft pretzels
- donut-breaded chicken nuggets
- personal pizzas (pepperoni, sausage, or veggie)
- tacos (pork or chicken) with pico de gallo and avocado crema
Above you can see two fine examples of scrumptious spectator sustenance in the form of a chicken and waffle sandwich with bacon (offered with chipotle or maple mayo), and a meatball sub. You can grab a more mundane hamburger or cheeseburger if you’d like, but an option to up the flavor a bit is the Frita Cubana Burger, which is served with a chorizo and beef patty topped with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, ketchup, mayo, mustard and fried potato sticks.
Let’s hope the competition goes into overtime; it’s a perfect excuse for a dessert. Along with the cheesecake push pops shown above, famished fans can fill up on an assortment of milkshakes, churros, and yes, even a Dole Whip.
