Tokyo Disney Resort Announces Expansion, Dismisses New Park Rumor

In February, we reported that the Oriental Land Company was considering developing a sky-themed park to complement its existing land and sea-themed properties. The rumored park had a tentative title of DisneySky, but now according to The Japan News, it seems like we won’t be seeing a third park in the near future.

Instead of a 3rd park, The Japan News is reporting that one of the two existing parks, Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo DisneySea, will be expanded. At a celebration of the 35th anniversary of the resort, the Oriental Land Company Chairman Toshio Kagami said, “We would like to create a Tokyo Disney Resort that fulfills new dreams. Currently, we are planning the park’s expansion.”

If further details are announced, we will report on them immediately.
