Walt Disney’s original offices have been entirely restored; this time, they can be seen in the Animation Building at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California. After Walt died back in 1966, Disney archivist Dave Smith documented every detail of the space, down to the decorations on the shelves and papers on the desk.

Portions of the office have been on display at One Man’s Dream in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the Main Street Opera House in Disneyland, but the whole office collection has not been back together since Walt’s passing.

The Disney Archives put together the third-floor suite of offices, which is being called Suite 3H, making it available to employees, some special guests and on certain tours for D23, Disney’s official fan club.

Some of the items on display include a map of Disneyland in 1966, a piano played by Richard Sherman, scripts awaiting Disney’s review, handwritten notes, family pictures, and a gold cage with an animatronic bird in it, Walt’s inspiration to create the audio-animatronics now seen around the parks.

Iger said that the offices remind him of Disney’s “devotion to his family, his curiosity and his relentless creative passion.” He said this permanent exhibit invites guests “to take a step back into the past and to gain a greater understanding of an extraordinary and remarkable man. We put this permanent exhibit together to serve as a source of inspiration to us, a reminder to have greater ambition, to take bold creative risks, to constantly innovate and push the limits of possibility, to relentlessly pursue perfection and to tell fantastic stories that touch people’s hearts. That was Walt Disney.”

Leah grew up in a little farming town in Illinois, right on the Mississippi River. Her Chicago-born husband, David, left the city for her, and they're now raising their three children (Jacob, Jonah and Lydia) just 12 miles from her hometown. As the Senior Editor of the DIS (wdwinfo.com), Leah spends a lot of time writing about, reading about, and discussing Disney. So, it should come as no surprise that one of her family's favorite ways to spend time is going to Walt Disney World and traveling on Disney Cruise Line. She also enjoys shopping, watching movies with her husband and doing crafts with and for her kids.
