We're hearing reports of a fire at
Splash Mountain at
Walt Disney World this morning. The
Magic Kingdom attraction was evacuated first, which was then followed by the rest of
Frontierland. There are no details as to the extent of the problem or the cause of the fire.
Update 9/15/10 at 1:55 pm: The ride is reopened, but still no details on the cause of the fire.
Update 9/15/10 at 4:15 pm: After more investigation, there was no fire, but just a burning smell in the attraction's electrical room. Richard LePere, Reedy Creek Fire Department Deputy Chief, said his crews responded shortly after 11 am. There was no smoke or fire when they arrived, but the ride was closed for over an hour while investigations were completed. Thoughts are that a blown transistor switch may have caused the burnt smell. No injuries were reported.
