Word is that Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg will be writing one of the new Star Wars films that were set in motion when Disney purchased Lucasfilm. Kasdan is not new to the Star Wars world and Lucasfilm. He co-wrote "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi" and wrote the Indiana Jones film "Raiders of the Lost Ark." Kinberg is currently co-writing "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and producing "Cinderella." He was previously a producer on "X-Men: First Class."

According to the rumors, the two would produce the films with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, as well as write either Episode VIII or Episode IX. Disney and Lucasfilm have not confirmed the rumors yet, but have said to check StarWars.com for official announcements.

Episode VII, the first of the new trilogy, will be written by Michael Arndt, Oscar-winner writer of "Toy Story 3" and "Little Miss Sunshine." Arndt is currently working on "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire."
