The rumors have become official -
Epcot's Maelstrom in the
Norway pavilion will be replaced with a Frozen-themed attraction. The possibility of this has been all over the internet lately, but was confirmed today on the
Disney Parks Blog by Tom Staggs, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
Staggs said the new attraction will "take our guests to Arendelle and immerse them in many of their favorite moments and music from the film." In addition, a meet and greet location will be added for guests to meet Anna and Elsa. Currently, there is a small meet and greet area inside one of the shops, but the small space is overwhelmed with guests and a new, larger space should help diminish some of that.
Anna and Elsa will also continue to greet guests at the
Magic Kingdom, but the sisters will also have a bigger presence during the holidays. Beginning November 5, "Queen Elsa will use her powers to transform Cinderella Castle into an ice palace every night starting in early November." Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf will also appear in Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade at
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.
Over at
Disney's Hollywood Studios, some elements from
Frozen Summer Fun LIVE! will be extended. Wandering Oaken's Trading Shop will move closer to the "For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration" during the holidays and will include real snow in a larger play area. The Sing-Along has been extended indefinitely.
Exact dates for these changes were not mentioned.
