‘Cars’ Piston Peak to Build on the Story of Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland

Disney has released more information on the new Cars-themed land replacing Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America at Magic Kingdom. Piston Peak National Park takes place in the world of Disney/Pixar’s Cars franchise, featuring two new attractions. Piston Peak National Park was originally featured in Planes: Fire & Rescue, also taking place in ‘Cars’ Piston Peak to Build on the Story of Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland





Closing Date Announced for Rivers of America & Tom Sawyer Island at Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney World announced that Piston Peak National Park will be the new backdrop for the Cars-themed area coming to Magic Kingdom. Disney says, “The big rally race will fit into the waters, landscapes, and storytelling.” On July 7, the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat will permanently close as Closing Date Announced for Rivers of America & Tom Sawyer Island at Magic Kingdom

We decided to spend some time on a recent Magic Kingdom visit in Walt Disney World enjoying the Rivers of America area. If you haven’t heard, they are replacing this area with a Cars-themed land. While I have fond childhood memories and family photos from “driving my first car”, it could certainly be a better experience suited for Florida’s Magic Kingdom. Today, Disney’s Hollywood Studios said goodbye to Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, an attraction that has been entertaining guests since its 2019 opening.
