Top 5 Planning Threads on for June 2016

Hi, everyone! June was quite the busy month over on! Here’s a look at the top 5 vacation planning threads . . .

Poster ‘RweTHRyet’ posed a question on our Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies board wanting to know what other parents say when their children ask, “Are they real or people in costumes?” during Character meet and greets. Some parents advise to let their kids lead the way and answer accordingly while others say to preserve the magic no matter what. Each family is different and how you decide to answer this question will determine how your child(ren) will interact with Characters in the future. Y’all probably know this already, but my vote is to preserve the magic. Take a look at this great thread and weigh in with your recommendations!

We all know how hot and humid central Florida can be, especially during the summer time. In first place is a question posted by ‘jjskribs’ asking “Do ‘cooling towels’ work in humidity?” Many posters are weighing in with their experiences using different brands of these towels while others are offering completely different suggestions for staying as cool as you can in the heat of the summer. Check out this HOT topic on the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies board!

If you’re thinking about adding a side trip to Universal Orlando Resort during your next Walt Disney World vacation, there’s a great thread started by ‘geenerbell’ called “Just back from a spilt stay Universal/Disney….. here’s what I learned” that will give you a bit of experience from others who have done the very same thing. The thread contains info about FastPass+ versus Express Pass, Extra Magic Hours versus Early Entry and more. You can find this thread over on the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies forum.

Some of my favorite threads are when posters come share their vacation experiences right after they return home. In the third spot is a thread entitled “I am back and what I learned” that can be found over on our Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies forum. In this heartwarming thread, poster ‘provencio’ shares some really helpful tips like suggestions on where to watch the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular fireworks at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, not to miss rope drop, and take advantage of a mid-day nap. He also talks about how much fun he had surfing the boards here while planning and tweaking his trip. Other posters are very happy to read this fresh info and they’re elaborating on some of the tips that have been shared. Stop by and join the discussion!

Poster ‘EdmondD’ tells the story of helping a friend plan their first family vacation to Walt Disney World and shares how the family decided to purchase the Disney Dining Plan only 5 months prior to their arrival date despite her recommendation not to. As many of you can likely imagine, there are very few reservations available for some of the more popular restaurants and this new Disney vacationer is frustrated. Lots of posters are saying that Disney has created this situation causing stress and frustration instead of fostering the magical elements of planning a Disney vacation. Other posters are weighing in with suggestions like continuing to check availability as people change their plans around while others can relate to the initial issue of not being able to get what you want 5 months ahead. Check out the thread entitled “Lost guests due to insane planning requirements?” over on the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies forum and offer your advice!

I hope that you find these threads helpful as you plan your summer vacations. See you on the boards!
