Walt Disney World annual passholders were treated to an exclusive event celebrating all things purple today. If you weren't aware that the regal color is currently the newest park merchandise trend, you obviously weren't in the Magic Kingdom'sTomorrowland around 5 pm today.
We stopped by for two reasons: First, we are all annual passholders and love a bit of VIP treatment. Second, we wanted to see just how well the Magic Kingdom would manage this purplexing (sorry...) event.
We queued up for the 5 o'clock event at around 3:45 pm, and we weren't nearly the first ones there. If you've never seen tons of people gathered together to celebrate the very concept of a color, trust us — it was quite a sight to see!
After waiting for 40 or so minutes in the first line we received our appropriately purple wristbands. Then we were led around the corner to the next queue to await entrance into the merchandise area. This second wait didn't take much more than 15 minutes. All in all, the process was well managed and the cast members did an exemplary job of directing folks and answering questions.

One of our primary gripes was that, due to our demographic, we didn't have a lot to choose from. It seems Walt Disney World assumes that purple is a traditionally female color; which is a shame, as us guys were looking forward to some passholder exclusive merch.
The cast members gave everyone a chance to browse, and kept more guests from coming in until the crowd had dispersed a bit. It was excellent crowd-management on their part and we were impressed with their level of organization.
There were a number of purple treats available, and I'll rank our general consensus below on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the purplest.
Purple Drink: $6.99 — 5
Tasting pretty much like a grape freezer pop, while not necessarily good it was certainly purple. The drink bubbled like a potion, so although it doesn't exactly taste refreshing it's probably the most camera-friendly treat here.
Purple Sugar Churro: $5.89 — 1
Just a churro, nothing purple-tasting about it. If ya like churros, eat this churro.
Purple Wall Cotton Candy: $4.69 — 3
Definitely some sort of grapish flavor in this stuff.
Purple Minnie Cake on a Stick: $5.99 — 4
Might not seem so purple at first, but wait till you get to the bow — solid purpleness.
There isn't much to say about this event other than that we hope to see more. While we may have preferred better variety in the merchandise we did still find some fun stuff for the purple-loving ladies in our lives. The Magic Kingdom had their crowd-directing game on lock, and it would be wonderful to see these passholder-exclusive events start to pop up on a more frequent basis.
