Yes, it does get cold in Florida. We do have wind chill readings. It doesn’t get Pennsylvania cold, but if you live in Florida and the temperature dips to the 70s, you are looking for your long pants and athletic shoes instead of shorts and flip-flops.
It’s fun this time of year because you can spot who lives here and who is visiting. So, how do you dress to enjoy the theme parks when the temperature is lower?
The answer is you layer your clothing. You may start out the day in long pants, a sweatshirt, and a hat, and by the afternoon, you will be dressed in your shorts.
If you are planning on spending a day in Walt Disney World during the colder months, you might want to pack a backpack with extra clothes for the day. You would start out and/or end your day in long pants and a sweatshirt or long sleeve t-shirt, and by the afternoon be in shorts. The fabrics you pack should be polyester, nylon, and wool to retain heat well. You might want to toss in a hat, and even if it’s cold out, don’t forget the sunscreen.
You don’t need to carry a backpack with you all day in the parks. Did you know that each Walt Disney World theme park has lockers?
A locker in the park is a great place to store your jackets, souvenirs, ponchos, etc.
There are several ways to purchase the use of a locker in the park. The locker location has a self-service kiosk. If you are paying with cash or credit card, you can head directly to the kiosk to rent your locker. If you would rather pay with a MagicBand or gift card, you would need to see a cast member at the closest merchandise location. If you choose to purchase a locker rental at a register, the cast member will give you a code to enter into the kiosk, allowing you to access a locker.
These are the current prices, but they are subject to change without notice.
