Walt Disney World has plenty of one-of-a-kind experiences for children and adults of all ages. These experiences can vary from special meals to tours, but, in most cases, they can cost quite a bit of money. On our most recent trip to the Magic Kingdom, my family got to experience perhaps the best “bang for your buck” Disney experience: Baby’s First Haircut at the Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street, U.S.A.
Prior to this experience, I never knew where the Harmony Barber Shop was. I knew it existed, but I never looked beyond the Emporium and the Fire House. When you walk to this corner shop, you are greeted by the traditional barber shop pole. Upon entry, you feel like you have been transported back in time as you see a few barber chairs lined up, surrounded by mirrors and hair products galore. The chairs are adjustable, and booster chairs are available for the little ones. When we walked in, we saw a variety of people sitting in the chairs, including a grown man getting his beard trimmed and a little princess getting her locks trimmed. We checked in for our appointment, and waited for our turn.
When it was my little man’s turn, he sat in the booster chair and was immediately greeted with a smile by our stylist. The cast members there are very professional and are accustomed to little ones who may not sit entirely still. She was completely prepared with lots of toys that made noise and lit up, and she had my son’s attention. I do not think he even knew what was going on. The stylist listened to my ideas, and executed the hair cut perfectly. She allowed me to take lots of pictures, and gave us a cute little lock of hair that was cut off.
When all was finished, they gave him a Mickey ear hat with the words “My 1st Haircut” written on the back, as well as a certificate of bravery. It truly was a fantastic experience, and I would highly recommend it for those taking their little one to Walt Disney World.
The Baby’s First Hair Cut Package is $25 and includes the haircut, commemorative Mickey ears, a keepsake lock of hair, and a certificate of bravery. A traditional haircut for a child is priced starting at $18, and an adult cut is $19. Adults can also get facial hair trimmed as well.
