Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar is located in Disney Springs near Gideon’s Bakehouse and Wine Bar George. Themed after the pilot Jock Lindsey, from Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark, this lounge has shareable bites, specialty cocktails, and plenty of Easter eggs from Indiana Jones. Additionally, Jock Lindsey’s offers seasonal menu items and even a holiday overlay. But what we didn’t expect to find are the best deviled eggs at Walt Disney World, or maybe the best we’ve ever had!
The seating is first-come-first-served both indoors and outdoors including the opportunity to sit in a Jungle Cruise-esque boat and a diving bell.
Other fun touches include a portrait of Jock himself, a map of Indiana Jones’ travels, a “working” ice machine, and take-home coasters from the lounges featured in the Indiana Jones films.
We started our journey to our beloved deviled eggs with signature cocktails… it is a lounge after all! Chloé chose the seasonal Orange Tangerine Frozen Margarita made with Patron Silver Tequila, orange-tangerine syrup, and Minute Maid Lemonade garnished with Citrus for $18. This wasn’t quite as pretty as the picture on the sign out front and had table salt used on the rim. While maybe a little overly-sweet, it was still a refreshing drink for a summer day outside.
For my drink, I went with the Scottish Professor named after Dr. Henry Jones Sr. This signature cocktail is made with monkey Shoulder Blended malt scotch whisky, Hendrick’s gin, pear nectar, simple syrup, and fresh lemon juice for $16. I was a little disappointed by the taste of this one, the combination of the liquors with the pear and simple syrup made it taste a little medicinal. Also because it came chilled without ice and we sat outside on a hot Florida day, it got warm pretty quickly.
Ryno selected the Jock’s Old Fashioned made with Knob Creek Disney Single Barrel Bourbon, Cointreau liqueur, simple syrup, and angostura orange bitters for $18. Ryno had the opposite problem with his drink since it had lots of ice instead of a single sphere or cube, it watered down pretty quickly. The price point is expected for Disney and the Knob Creek that was used but still not one Ryno would get again.
Okay folks, you made it to the main event! The Chicken on the Egg for $15 – six deviled eggs topped with fried chicken and hot honey sauce. The deviled eggs alone were well executed, creamy, and flavorful but then you add hot honey sauce and bite-size fried chicken… divine! Hot honey seems to be a trend in the parks right now and this is the best version I’ve had. Our entire team agreed this alone was worth the visit and we will be back again for it soon.
We also had the Medjoul Date and Manchego Flatbread topped with frisee, crispy prosciutto, red onion, and balsamic glaze for $9.25. The flatbread is definitely on the small side and was served on a giant platter, making it look comically small. I guess for $9 at Disney, this is to be expected. Overall, it was a good flatbread but could have used more prosciutto and less balsamic glaze to balance the overwhelming sweetness.
To round out our flight of appetizers, we shared the Air Pirate’s Cargo Loaded Pretzel. This large pretzel is garnished with prosciutto, sliced brats, artisan salami, smoked cheddar, black diamond cheddar, caraway pickles, spicy mustard and beer-chees fondue for $22.50. I think we all had high hopes for this one and were quickly disappointed by the super dry and stale pretzel. We loved the wide variety of accompaniments but the dry pretzel made it impossible to give a good review. Also, the price point of $22 is pretty steep. For the same price, you could get a Bavarian Pretzel and a beer from Baseline Tap House in Hollywood Studios. And we all know how much the DIS Unlimited loves Baseline.
We’ll be back to Jock Lindsey’s for those heavenly deviled eggs and for the holiday overlay, but will try different drinks next time. Be sure to watch our full review here!
