Earlier this week, we learned about the features of the newly upgraded dining reservation system for Walt Disney World, like the ability to search a range of dates or all availability for a specific location. You can also sort your search, making it easier than ever to narrow down your options. Today, we’ve discovered another cool feature we have to tell you about.
A restaurant’s atmosphere and vibes are almost as important as the food on the menu. If you are wanting to get a feel for the ambiance of the dining experience, you can now see the new media galleries in the My Disney Experience app to get a visual sneak peek before securing a reservation. All you need to do is look for the ring around a location’s thumbnail photo to open the gallery (Disney World only) – similar to Instagram or Facebook when someone has shared a new story.
In the image below, you can see that there are six photos available to view for 1900 Park Fare at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. This can be so beneficial if you’re trying to get an idea of how the tables and seating are laid out.
For locations where the view is of utmost importance, there might be a photo showing it, like this one from the California Grill, the rooftop restaurant at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Being able to see Cinderella Castle while you’re dining? Yes, please!
Hot Tip: Did you know that if you have an early dinner at California Grill, you can return later to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the outdoor decks? All you need to do is present your receipt from that same night!
There might even be photos of some of the dishes on the dining location’s menus. Chicken pot pie is one of my favorite things, but I prefer an actual crust over the puff pastry the one below is topped with. It’s the little things sometimes. And what might not be a game-changer for you could be for someone else.
