Character dining is one of the most memorable experiences you can have at Walt Disney World. Itโs a chance to meet beloved Disney characters while enjoying a sit-down meal โ no waiting in long lines, no rushing across the park for a meet-and-greet. These meals are a favorite for families, couples, and Disney fans of all ages. Hereโs a look at my top 10 character dining experiences, ranked, along with tips for booking those hard-to-get Advance Dining Reservations.
1. Chef Mickeyโs (Disneyโs Contemporary Resort)
This classic tops the list for its unbeatable location and lineup of the “Fab Five.” Guests can meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto, all dressed in chef outfits; they’re absolutely the cutest! The buffet is plentiful, and the views of the monorail passing right through the resort overhead add extra Disney charm.

2. Cinderellaโs Royal Table (Magic Kingdom)

Dining inside Cinderella Castle is truly a bucket-list experience for anyone, like myself, who lives, albeit vicariously, in Fantasyland. Princesses like Cinderella, Ariel, Jasmine, and Snow White greet guests while they enjoy a plated meal in a storybook setting that’s straight out of a fairy tale. This one fills up quickly, so make reservations as soon as your booking window opens. It’s also important to note that to book dining reservations at this restaurant, you’ll need to pay in full for your entire party at the time of booking.

3. Garden Grill (EPCOT)
Located in The Land Pavilion, Garden Grill serves a family-style meal with fresh ingredients, some of which are grown right there in the pavilion! Characters include Chip, Dale, Mickey, and Pluto. The restaurant slowly rotates, offering views of the Living with the Land attraction below.

4. Story Book Dining at Artist Point (Disneyโs Wilderness Lodge)

This dinner experience brings guests into the enchanted forest to meet Snow White, Dopey, Grumpy, and the Evil Queen. The prix fixe menu is creative and beautifully plated, making this a favorite for foodies and character fans alike.

5. Tusker House (Disneyโs Animal Kingdom)
Here you can meet Mickey, Goofy, Daisy, and Donald in colorful safari gear. The buffet offers African-inspired dishes along with kid-friendly classics, perfect for adventurous eaters. My family enjoys eating a late lunch here to catch a break from the heat out in the park, and to combine lunch and dinner. That’s the night we’ll typically grab a fun Disney treat somewhere as we’re watching fireworks.

6. Topolinoโs Terrace (Disneyโs Riviera Resort)
This rooftop restaurant offers a stunning breakfast with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy in artist-inspired costumes. The menu is prix fixe and elevated, with options like quiche, smoked salmon, and steak. This is a great breakfast spot on your EPCOT day, as you can hop on the Disney Skyliner afterward and fly over to the International Gateway entrance in the World Showcase.

7. Crystal Palace (Magic Kingdom)
Located on Main Street, U.S.A., this buffet features Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The bright, Victorian-inspired setting and all-you-care-to-eat offerings make it a charming break from the park crowds.

8. 1900 Park Fare (Disneyโs Grand Floridian Resort & Spa)
After its fairly recent refresh, 1900 Park Fare offers a unique lineup featuring characters like Aladdin, Cinderella, Mirabel, and Princess Tiana in her new look from Tianaโs Bayou Adventure. The whimsical atmosphere and diverse menu keep it a popular choice. Don’t skip the cold strawberry soup โ it may sound odd, but it’s delicious!

9. Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (EPCOT)
This princess dining experience offers a slightly more budget-friendly alternative to Cinderellaโs Royal Table. Guests meet several princesses in a beautiful Norwegian castle setting while enjoying a Norwegian-inspired meal. While there are plenty of menu items to choose from during lunch and dinner, I recommend breakfast if you don’t have adventurous eaters in your group.

10. Cape May Cafรฉ (Disneyโs Beach Club Resort)
The Minnieโs Beach Bash Breakfast is a relaxing way to start the day. Minnie, Daisy, Donald, and Goofy greet guests in beachwear, and the buffet features an excellent selection of breakfast favorites.

Tips for Booking
Character dining is among the most popular dining reservations at Walt Disney World, so planning ahead is key. Dining reservations open 60 days in advance, and staying at a Disney resort allows you to book for your entire trip at once, up to ten days. This is a great perk! Aim to reserve early morning or late evening times for shorter waits and more character interaction.
The Magic of Character Dining
These experiences offer more than just food; they create special moments and photo opportunities that canโt be replicated. Whether youโre dining with royalty, sharing laughs with Mickey, or hugging Winnie the Pooh, character meals are a must-do for making memories on your Walt Disney World vacation.
