We have a new series showing off the food and drinks at different lounges across Walt Disney World – the DIS Unlimited Happy Hour! For our first outing, we visited the Tune-In Lounge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios located right next to 50’s Prime Time Café.
The Tune-In Lounge looks and feels just like you’ve stepped into a 1950’s living room complete with black and white TV’s playing classic sitcoms and the opening day ceremony of Disneyland. There is seating at the bar with the option to grab a drink to go. This is often used as a waiting area for Prime Time and can get busy during peak lunch and dinner hours.
There are four signature cocktails, 3 of which we tried, plus a full bar with both bottled and draft beer. You cannot order food here, so if you’re looking for “Mom’s Pot Roast”, you’ll want to dine next door.
Chloé chose the Indigo Hibiscus – Empress 1908 Gin, Bols Blue Curacao Liqueur, Minute Maid Premium Lemonade, Orgeat, lemon, and hibiscus grenadine – $16. This gin based drink was on the sweet side but the Orgeat and hibiscus grenadine gave it a little depth. This was a fun cocktail but pales in comparison to our favorite signature drink the Tune-In!
I went with Dad’s Electric Lemonade – Svedka Vodka, Bols Blue Curacao Liqueur, sweet and sour, and Sprite, served with a souvenir glow cube – $17. The glow cube was a fun addition and it truly looked electric. The Sprite added a nice fizz and but overall just tasted like lemonade. This is one that has the potential to go down too easy on a warm day.
Ryno was lucky enough to order The Tune-In PBJ Cocktail – Screwball Peanut Butter Whiskey, Bols Blackberry Brandy, and Bailey’s Irish Cream Liqueur, topped with a maraschino cherry – $16. This is a stand-out cocktail and worth a visit to the Tune-In Lounge alone. The peanut butter and jelly flavor is perfection, not overly sweet or overpowering. Combined with the warmth from the brandy and the cream from the Bailey’s, this cocktail is the best kind of dessert possible.
We definitely think you should add the Tune-In Lounge to your must do’s at Hollywood Studios! Come in between lunch and dinner, enjoy the 1950’s TV programs, and enjoy the incredible PBJ cocktail.
