When you’ve packed up the whole family for the vacation of a lifetime, it’s often the smallest things that can make your life feel easier. While we can’t help with the hustle and bustle that is a Walt Disney World vacation, we can give you some resort room hacks that might make your stay a little more enjoyable. Here are five things to try next time you bring the family to a Disney Resort.

Serve Breakfast in Your Room

Even though breakfast food in Disney Resorts can be a fun time to enjoy a sit-down meal, it’s not always the best use of time. Save the cost of breakfast and the time out of your park day by serving up breakfast at home. Individual servings of cereal can be handy with some milk in the fridge or a simple toaster and a loaf of bread. Get your family fed quickly and on the way to your exciting day ahead. Other handy breakfast ideas are yogurt tubs from the fridge or toast if your resort has toasters in the common areas.

Use the Ironing Board as a Table

If you are having some downtime in your resort room or trying to keep the kids occupied while the adults have a quiet shower, there are more resources in your room than you think. Set up their coloring book and a snack using the ironing board that is included in most resort rooms. Throw a towel over the top just in case there are any spills, and enjoy your new table if there wasn’t one already in there.

Use Nesting Suitcases

On any family vacation, you’ll find yourself cramped for space in a resort room, and with multiple bags, there is often nowhere to store them. Try taking nesting suitcases, or at least any combination that can fit inside each other, allowing you to store all of them in the room in the footprint of the biggest one. I find this makes a huge difference to the available space in the room when you aren’t tripping over bags at every turn.

Zip-Lock Outfit Bags

If you are a family traveling with a few young children, this next tip is golden. Pack the outfit that you have for your kids to wear each day in a zip-lock bag. Top, shorts, socks, & undies. This will help your kids dress themselves and keep everything organized when you arrive. The longer you stay, the more you might want to mix and match different pieces as you go. However, this is a great help when starting your trip. Write names on the bags and throw them all in one drawer on arrival for quick and easy clothes organization.

Take a Small Collapsible Cube for Daily Items

If you’ve ever come back to a Disney resort room after a full day of park fun, you know that it can be a bit chaotic. Everyone tosses their personal items around the room, stripping off before plopping down in a chair or on a bed for some much-needed rest. The problem lies in finding all of those items again as you hurry out the door the next morning. Take a collapsible storage cube with you. They are made of a light fabric and easy to throw in the suitcase. Place the cube on a table or next to the TV near the doorway, and have everyone in your family deposit their MagicBands, passes, ears, pin lanyards, and everything else that you will need for the park tomorrow as they walk in the door. This will keep everything in a single, tidy area that you can revisit the next day to load up again.
