Highly themed gingerbread houses can be found at various Disney resorts during the holiday season. In the lobby of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, they have a display modeled after the BoardWalk Deli filled with hidden Mickeys. The best part is that it fills the area with a wonderful gingerbread smell, which gets me in the Christmas spirit.
In front of the display, they have the hours and date for a pin signing with the pastry chef and fun facts, including how long it took to build the gingerbread house. I loved being able to read the points that were listed because they answered so many questions I had about the building process. Reading that also made me appreciate the art of the display even more. These cast members did a phenomenal job making this beautiful piece; I wish it could stay all year.
Now I tried my very hardest to find all the hidden Mickeys, but unfortunately, I could only find 13 of them. I’ll have to go back and try again before it gets removed from the lobby. I was shocked to see how many egg whites were used and the amount of fondant. I always paid attention to the beauty and architecture but never thought about how many ingredients it would take to build the gingerbread house. Let’s take a look at the details, shall we?
Closer Look at the BoardWalk Deli
I love the little chef mickey and Minnie that are in the display surrounded by sweets, and if you look hard enough, you can see some Amorettes cakes in the back. There’s also a mini gingerbread house by Minnie Mouse, which I thought was a cute touch. The Christmas trees on each side of the deli caught my attention because the ornaments on them are very detailed. It is truly amazing how much detail they put into this, up to the chairs and tables.

Hi, I'm Erica, and I write about all things Disney. Before working for The DIS, I was a theme park performer at SeaWorld, but I also performed at Disney. I have such an immense love for theme parks to the point I studied them in college.
