After reading an article on Blog Mickey about a rumored Universal Express Pass-style skip-the-line pass coming to Disneyland and Walt Disney World, we thought we’d conjecture a bit ourselves.
The article speculates that a product called Lightning Lane Premier Pass will launch in 2024 for both U.S. Disney theme parks. While there have been no official details on such a product as of the time of this post, the entire notion of it has me wondering and wanting to know more.
While the article states that “…the rumored Lightning Lane Premier Pass would be similar to the Universal Express pass at Universal Orlando Resort,” it also says that it would only allow those who purchase it to access an eligible Lightning Lane attraction once per day without the need to book a return window.
Essentially, guests who purchase Lightning Lane Premier Pass would be able to skip the line at eligible Lightning Lane attractions once per day, without the need to book a return window.

So, does this mean that it would be like Express Pass at UOR where you can use it for more than one attraction in a day, just not the same attraction twice in the same day? That’s the only way I could see this being worth an additional cost.
Currently, Walt Disney World’s skip-the-line offerings include Lightning Lane Single Pass and Lightning Multi Pass. With LL Single Pass, guests can select an available time to ride one of Disney’s more popular attractions and make their purchase in advance. Guests who purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass can choose up to 3 Lightning Lane selections (with reserved arrival windows) in a theme park prior to their visit. (ETA: We should note that Disneyland also uses LIghtning Lane, but it works differently than the Disney World version.)
When I first read this rumor, I thought that guests who purchase this would essentially be paying a premium price simply to avoid having to book a return window for only a single attraction in a day. Again, I’m not sure about any of the ins and outs of this [rumored] product as nothing official has been announced, but I would definitely need it to include skip-the-line access to more than one attraction per day to make it worthwhile.
Okay, your turn! Would you pay for a product like this if it became available?
