Inside EPCOT in the World Nature area is Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana. This area is where one of the former Innoventions buildings used to stand. Also in the neighborhood are The Land Pavilion and The Seas with Nemo & Friends.
It’s a great place to wander through and spend a little quiet time while learning about the cycle of water. There is a wet or dry path, and you can decide how wet you want to get. You will see lots of interactive water features and fountains. There are splash areas for kids to enjoy and cool off for a bit. FYI: diaper-aged kids will need to wear swim diapers. There is only one way in and out, so keeping track of your kids isn’t hard.
You will be directed to the dry path if you are using a wheelchair, scooter, etc. If you meander down the path, you can see it all in 10-15 minutes.
Along the way, there are signs that will educate you about the cycle of water and its importance.
At your first stop on the path, you will learn about rain. You then proceed to the stream and will be able to “play” the “strings” of water and make music.
As you progress, you will enter a cave-like area which also offers a dry path and a lake. Up next, you stop at the river, and finally, you learn about the sky. Be sure to take a little time to play with the water and check out the rocks along the way for the carvings. One of them is Moana.
There is a large figure of Te Fiti. I especially liked the plumeria plants they had in this area.
The attraction ends with the opportunity for several people to form a group to create one giant wave with their movement.
As you experience the “rain” part of the cycle it has a “water harp” – small strings of running water that play different musical notes when you run your hands through them. Other fun features include waterspouts, “jumping” water fountains, river run-offs, and misters to cool you off. Be sure to experience the water “curtain” that parts to let you through without getting wet at all. There are several areas that allow guests to play alone or encourage groups to play together, collaborating to create bigger, higher, more dramatic responses from the water features.
Be sure to have your camera ready for some great shots of Spaceship Earth in the background. It’s a great place to “chill” for a while on a hot day in EPCOT. ‘Till next time, see you in the parks!
