Today, Disney’s Hollywood Studios said goodbye to Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, an attraction that has been entertaining guests since its 2019 opening. The interactive show, based on the beloved Cars franchise, allowed fans to join Lightning McQueen and his friends as they shared racing tips and showcased animated sequences on a 200-degree screen.
Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy’s closure paves the way for the new Villains-themed show, set to open in summer 2025. The new Villains show will take place in the mysterious, reflective realm of the Magic Mirror, featuring iconic Disney villains such as Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent breaking through the glass to take the stage in live production numbers.
Since Racing Academy‘s doors are now permanently closed, we can expect construction to ramp up before the Villains show opening next year. Stay tuned!
