Walt Disney World has shared a few updates for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets, coming soon to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Most importantly: the reimagined coaster will debut in Summer 2026. The announcement was paired with a concert handbill graphic:
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets will spotlight Electric Mayhem (the Muppets’ signature rock band including Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd, Janice, Lips and Zoot), as the stars of the attraction. The premise frames them as running late to headline their biggest Hollywood concert, and guests are roped into helping get them there in time.
A central part of the story will take place in G‑Force Records, now under Muppet management. Guests will pass through backstage studio scenes, complete with Muppet‑styled chaos, audio engineers (including penguins inspired by Muppet*Vision 3D), and remixed rock tunes.
According to the backstory, Scooter’s uncle (real estate tycoon and owner of the Muppet Theatre, J.P. Grosse) purchased G-Force Records and put Scooter in charge.
Side by side with a dedicated team of penguin audio engineers, Scooter, in his capacity as band manager, will be trying hard to convince the Electric Mayhem to stop laying down tracks so they won’t be late to their own concert. This will be the first time Scooter has ever been imagined as an Audio-Animatronics figure.
In addition to today’s big Audio-Animatronics update, Disney also teased Scooter isn’t the only Muppet animatronic joining the attraction… Who could it be? Perhaps Statler and Waldorf straight out of Muppet*Vision?
In terms of the ride experience itself, while Disney hasn’t confirmed many structural changes, the reimagined coaster is promised to be “fast‑paced, music‑filled,” with “backstage chaos and plenty of laughs,” and will use rock tune remixes as part of its soundtrack.
While a closure date for this new project hasn’t been announced either, Disney will begin transforming the current Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith into the Muppets‑themed version in 2026, with the updates debuting in the summer. The existing Aerosmith version is confirmed to remain open throughout 2025, giving guests a bit more time to experience the original. Are you planning a visit to experience it one last time?
