Is Caribbean Beach Resort the Best Value Moderate at Disney World Right Now?

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort has become one of the smarter moderate picks at Walt Disney World, and Skyliner access is a big reason why. If you’re deciding between the moderates or wondering whether it’s worth skipping a deluxe upgrade, here’s what matters about staying here.

Caribbean Beach spreads across five “villages” surrounding Barefoot Bay — that sprawling size is both its charm and its catch. The theming leans into a laid-back island vibe with colorful buildings, sandy beaches, smaller quiet pools and a large pirate-themed pool — complete with waterslides (said like Kuzco).

The tradeoff is walking distance. Depending on your building, you could be a short stroll from Old Port Royale (the resort’s dining and shopping hub) or a longer walk that makes the internal bus loop worth using.

Sebastian’s Bistro sits right along that Old Port Royale waterfront and is one of the better reasons to book a table here even if you’re not staying on property.

The family-style dinner brings out shared plates rather than individual entrées: pull-apart rolls with guava butter (which works well on just about everything served here) and caramelized onion jam to start, a Caribbean-inspired salad with a Key Lime dressing, pineapple, and candied pumpkin seeds, and a main platter featuring citrus chicken, mojo pork, chili-rubbed beef, and a baked white fish option, plus sides like broccoli and cauliflower, rice and beans, and candied plantains.

And for dessert? A coconut pineapple bread pudding that has easily become one of my favorite WDW desserts. I made my next reservation while still sitting at the table… that’s how good everything is!

The Skyliner is the other headline feature. Caribbean Beach has its own station, and the neighboring Riviera Resort station sits even closer to Sebastian’s front door.

From either stop, EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are about ten minutes of a gondola ride, without ever having to wait for or board a bus. That’s the real advantage over other moderates with bus-only park access, like Coronado Springs, Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter, especially on evenings when you want dinner and fireworks in the same trip without thinking about parking lots or bus queues.

So how does a moderate resort like this stack up against value and deluxe options? Compared to value resorts, moderates like Caribbean Beach offer larger rooms, table-service dining on-site, quieter pools, hot tubs, and often nicer landscaping, without value resort’s high-density feel. Compared to deluxe resorts, you lose monorail or walking access to the parks and some of the elevated dining and pool experiences, but you gain a lower nightly rate while still getting Extra Magic Hours and some solid theming. The average price for a standard room at Caribbean Beach ranges from $330 to $450 per night, depending on the season (and any running discounts!).

One last note on my standard room, since they are often overlooked in favor of preferred locations. I stayed in a ground floor corner room in the Trinidad section, building 35, and the corner layout meant double windows that let in a ton of natural light. The decor leans light and beachy, with subtle Little Mermaid touches worked in throughout, including small sleepy fish details near the pull-down beds.

From that room, it was a short walk along the water to the Skyliner station, making EPCOT and Hollywood Studios mornings easy without needing a preferred room upcharge. Walking to the main Port Royale area was also an enjoyable 5-minute walk along the water!

Plus, in addition to Old Port Royale’s food hub, a secondary quick-service stop can be found within the Trinidad section: Spyglass Grill!

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at Caribbean Beach. If your Disney World trip consists of most of your days spent at Disney’s Hollywood Studios or EPCOT, the Skyliner access can’t be beat. The resort feels more relaxed, quiet (well, besides the main pool) and sprawled out — similar to the Port Orleans Resorts.
