Review: Pizza al Taglio in the Italy Pavilion at Epcot

Review: Pizza al Taglio in the Italy Pavilion at Epcot result

Pizza al Taglio is a new walk-up pizza window next door to Via Napoli. This location has had a strange history being open seasonally, then seemingly closing permanently, and now reopening on September 6th. A manager did tell me that she was not sure if this location would remain open throughout the year, or not. Tucked away in the back-left corner of the Italy Pavilion, Pizza al Taglio may be hard to find if you don’t know what you are looking for.

This location serves pizza, mini cannolis, wine, beer, cocktails, and fountain beverages. The pizza ranges in price from $6.75 to $8.75.

To the left of the window is a new outdoor eating space, which features a long wrap around countertop. This space was recently added, and to be honest it felt like I was standing in a dark public bathroom. If this sounds overly critical you can judge for yourself in the picture featured above.

For my first visit, I ordered the Pizza Margherita, which was $6.75. I am torn in what to say about my slice. I thought the flavor was good, but my qualm was that the crust was so tough that I had to gnaw on it for it to rip. I thought the size of each piece was very generous for Disney standards as it was larger than my plate, which surprised me. I know $6.75 is expensive for pizza, but for Disney’s standards, I thought it was fair.

This is a great option if you want something quick, easy, and cheap. It isn’t the best option if you are looking to escape the heat and sit down to relax during your meal. If they fix the crust and spruce up the new outdoor countertop space I think it could become a very popular location. The cast members were friendly and while I was there, there was no line. There are some changes that could be made to improve Pizza al Taglio, but overall I think it is a welcome addition to Epcot.
