Those of you who have read the DISboards regularly over the years know that at the beginning of each year, we like to take a look at the past year and highlight the top notable threads that sparked a lot of discussions. 2018 boasted quite a few hot topics and some of them might even surprise you.
In the tenth spot on our list, there is a thread containing a discussion on theme park tickets along with details on upgrading them. You’ll find helpful tips from guests who have “been there, done that” and new posters add their experiences regularly. This thread was started by poster, ‘Robo‘ on the ‘Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies‘ forum.
Have you seen our “Just for Fun” forum? There are threads on just about anything you can imagine including this one on the ‘Cooking‘ forum. Let’s face it, we all were just starting out in the kitchen at one point or another and sometimes the simplest of cooking questions need answered! This thread was started by poster, ‘eatatmidnight‘ and holds the ninth spot on our list.
Over on the ‘Disney Restaurants‘ forum is a thread that is meticulously maintained by poster, ‘TheRustyScupper.’ In this thread, you’ll find all of the pricing for Character meals, dinner shows, and the all-you-care-to-enjoy buffets that are all across the Walt Disney World Resort.
It’s never too early to start thinking about the holidays, especially if you’re planning on spending Christmas at the Walt Disney World Resort. Disney really knows how to throw a holiday party and planning your evening at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is of utmost importance as just one ticket to the event can run you around $90, give or take a few bucks depending on the night you choose to attend. Each year on the ‘Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies’ forum, there is one thread surrounding the event where posters discuss the party and their plans. The 2018 edition was started by poster, ‘monique5.’
As a side note, take a peek at the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2018 Strategy Guide we put together for you that includes all the details on the party from the special holiday treats to the special events that take place during the event.
The guest rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort went through major renovations and DISboard posters had a lot to say about it. Most folks seem fairly happy that the carpeting was removed and replaced with laminate flooring as it’s easier to keep clean while others felt that the changes created too sterile of a feel. This thread lives on the ‘Disney Resorts‘ forum and was started by poster, ‘Polynesian27.’
With the steep prices on airfare, many travelers are choosing to drive to Walt Disney World as opposed to flying and in the number five spot on our list is a thread where folks are discussing the best routes to travel. Look for this thread that was started by poster, ‘HeatherCM‘ on the ‘Transportation‘ forum.
Another interesting thread that got a lot of attention in 2018 is a discussion about how much money actors portraying roles in Hallmark movies are paid. This one surprised all of us, but it was certainly an active discussion by many folks on the ‘Community Board.’ The thread was originally started by poster, ‘moon.’
Another thread from our “Just for Fun” forum located on the ‘Disney Movies, Books, TV, and Music‘ sub-forum and started by poster, ‘ForEver2016‘ is a thread about classic Disney movies. Periodically, some of the most popular films are put into what Disney calls the “vault” where they are not available for sale for a period of time. Posters in this thread are discussing which movies are in the vault and which ones might be coming out soon.
In the number two spot on our list is the thread that holds all of the details on Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, the special hard-ticketed event that takes place on select dates in September and October. This thread can be found on the ‘Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies‘ forum and started by poster, ‘monique5‘ who meticulously keeps the thread updated throughout the year with any new announcements for the party.
The thread that holds the number one spot on the list and has for the last several years is all about the ins and outs of FastPass+. The thread can be found on the ‘Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies’ forum and was started by poster, ‘mesaboy2‘ who keeps this thread up-to-date throughout the year along with answering questions that DISboard posters have about using FastPass+.
