What Disney World Rides Are CLOSED in July 2026?

While no one wants attraction downtime during their Walt Disney World vacation, refurbishments are a necessary part of keeping rides safe and looking their best for future guests. Under normal circumstances, only a handful of attractions are closed at any given time, with new experiences taking shape in the background.

Right now, though, the scope of closures extends beyond individual attractions. Entire lands and areas across the parks are shuttered, from DinoLand U.S.A. and the Rivers of America to Muppets Courtyard, leaving noticeably large sections of the resort walled off.

It’s also worth keeping unexpected downtime in mind. Attractions can go offline without warning. It’s not something you can plan around, but it’s worth building in a little flexibility just in case. If there’s a ride you absolutely cannot miss, try to get to it early in the day and give yourself a backup window in case it temporarily goes down during your visit.

Whether you’re stacking Lightning Lanes or just trying to avoid that dreaded “wait… it’s closed?!” moment, knowing what’s down before you arrive can make a real difference. Here’s your updated look at attraction closures and refurbishments at Walt Disney World for July 2026, so you can plan accordingly and make the most of your trip!

Magic Kingdom

Carousel of Progress – Closing July 6th for Extended Refurbishment

Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress will close on July 6 (meaning the last day to experience the current version is July 5) for a massive overhaul that will shift the entire attraction’s timeline forward by 60 years. The project is currently set to reopen sometime in 2027. For more details on the new additions and scenes, including a brand-new Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic, read here!

Walt Disney World Railroad – Altered Route

Also part of Frontierland’s ongoing construction for Piston Peak and Villains Land, the Walt Disney World Railroad is currently operating under a modified route that excludes the Frontierland station. The train now operates as a shuttle between Main Street station and Fantasyland station only. The train will remain in this “shuttle mode” for the next few years, until the new projects are closer to completion.

EPCOT

Besides the limited-time Soarin’ Across America officially debuted on May 26th, temporarily replacing Soarin’ Over the World, there are currently no attractions on the park’s refurbishment schedule.

Magic of Disney Animation – Opens Later This Summer

The Walt Disney Studios courtyard was unveiled in late May, including new shaded outdoor areas, Disney character statues, Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!, and a much-needed new Baby Care Center.

Later this summer, beyond the sorcerer hat, inside Magic of Disney Animation will bring Olaf Draws!, new character meet & greet opportunities, and an indoor playground.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

While Tropical Americas construction is currently underway (and we said goodbye to the dinosaurs of DinoLand U.S.A. months ago), there are currently no attractions on the park’s refurbishment schedule.
