For those who don’t know, rope drop is the moment when the parks open and guests are let in for the day. Rope drop usually happens around 8 or 9am, but the exact time varies depending on the park and the time of year. Guests usually line up early to get a good spot – sometimes even an hour or more before the park opens. When the time finally comes, everyone is let in through the main gates and the rope drop ceremony begins. A Disney cast member will generally welcome everyone to the park and give a short speech. After that, the guests are free to explore and have a magical day. Rope drop is more of a term describing the official park opening as there is not typically an actual rope involved.
