Why Fall Is One of the Best Times to Visit Walt Disney World

If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to plan a trip to Walt Disney World, allow us to nudge you gently (but enthusiastically) toward this fall. Between trick-or-treating at Magic Kingdom, sampling limited-time global dishes at EPCOT, new attraction experiences, and Mickey Mouse pumpkin wreaths lining Main Street, U.S.A., there’s plenty to look forward to.

Whether you’re a foodie, a thrill-seeker, or just someone who desperately needs a break from your inbox, here’s why autumn at Walt Disney World should be your next great adventure.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

This fall staple is back at Magic Kingdom Park. Running on select nights through Halloween, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party lets you trick-or-treat your way through the park and experience lower standby waits at popular attractions — including some with special themed overlays! The party’s exclusive entertainment lineup includes the Disney Villains-packed Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks, and rarer character meet and greet opportunities (like the newly-updated Jack Skellington). Tickets are on sale now, and tend to sell out quickly!

Pro tip: the the pitch-black Space Mountain Halloween overlay is a must-do, and you should DEFINITELY dress up in costume, even if it’s hot and humid. (Check out my tips on how to maximize your MNSSHP night!)

EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival

Foodies, assemble. The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival returns August 27 through November 21, 2026, bringing nearly three months of food booths, live entertainment, merchandise, and family-friendly activities to the park. Festival admission is included with regular EPCOT park admission.

You can sample dishes and beverages inspired by countries and cultures from around the world while exploring EPCOT’s World Showcase and beyond. The popular Eat to the Beat Concert Series also returns, offering live performances throughout the festival (we don’t know the lineup just yet!).

Sip a German ale, munch on some Korean BBQ, and challenge your family or friends to find the best dessert (it’s probably in France).

New Experiences Across Walt Disney World

At Disney’s Hollywood Studios alone, you’ll find several new experiences that debuted throughout the year. The Walt Disney Studios opened at Animation Courtyard earlier this summer, with refreshed outdoor spaces celebrating the legacy of Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Later this summer, The Magic of Disney Animation will officially open its doors, bringing several family-friendly experiences to the park. Guests can step inside an indoor playground inspired by Mary Blair’s whimsical artwork from Alice in Wonderland, peruse the historical Disney art gallery, Watch Once Upon a Studio, learn how to draw Disney characters during Olaf Draws!, a new Animation Academy-style experience featuring everyone’s favorite snowman, and meet beloved Disney characters in dedicated indoor greeting locations.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets has taken over Sunset Boulevard, featuring the Electric Mayhem, Kermit, and other favorite Muppets. Nearby, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run now features a new mission starring The Mandalorian and Grogu, offering a fresh adventure aboard the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. (Tip: if you want to see the most “baby Yoda”, try the improved Engineer position!)

At Magic Kingdom, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin recently reopened following a major refurbishment that introduced updated ride vehicles, handheld blasters, interactive targets, and improved gameplay. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad also reopened after a year-long closure, with new trains, track, and enhancements.

With the summer rush behind us, fall can be an excellent time to experience these newer offerings!

Deals, Discounts & Pumpkin-Spiced Savings

Planning ahead has its perks! This fall, Disney is offering special booking discounts on resort stays, including:

  • Up to 25% or 30% off select Disney Resort hotels
  • Room + ticket packages with early theme park entry and Magical Extras

And because cooler fall weather means lower crowds (especially mid-week), you might just find yourself scoring an extra spin on Space Mountain without the hour-long wait.

Pack the Ears, Let’s Go!

Whether you’re visiting for Halloween festivities, Food & Wine Festival, new and updated attractions, or simply a change of scenery, fall continues to be one of the best times to visit Walt Disney World.
