Downtown Disney - Pleasure Island

Pleasure Island Renovation: Disney announced plans for a new complex named 'Hyperion Wharf' to be developed at Downtown Disney in Walt Disney World. While no completion date was provided, the project is expected to create thousands of new jobs in the upcoming years. Disney describes the area (which will transform the current Pleasure Island) as "a nostalgic yet modern take on an early 20th century port city and amusement pier. By day, stylish boutiques and innovative restaurants will draw you in and by night, thousands of lights will transform the area into an electric wonderland."In addition to the construction of Hyperion Wharf, Disney also provided a glimpse into other projects at Downtown Disney currently in progress. The most noticeable addition, perhaps to capitalize on the excitement created by the coming of Legoland to Florida, is an expansion of the Lego Imagination Center in the Downtown Disney Marketplace area. However, this is no minor project. The work will allegedly expand the current Lego space by 3,500 square feet and include the addition of "sculptures" of classic Disney scenes.

Operating hours for the common areas at Downtown Disney Pleasure Island are 8:00 am - 2:00 am. This includes all Downtown Disney promenades, walkways, rest rooms and green spaces.

Celebrate Tonight! - A street party that allows guests to celebrate their birthdays, anniversaries, family gatherings, and anything that guests want to celebrate. DJ's are the party hosts and encourage guests to join in with the stilt walkers and the party crew. There will be group dances and sing-alongs. The party will take place at the West End Plaza on Pleasure Island. Celebrate Tonight! hours are 5 PM to 11 PM Sunday through Thursday and 6 PM to Midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Characters in Flight Balloon Ride
Located next to the bridge near Planet Hollywood, this new attraction provides guests with a birds eye view of Downtown Disney and a 360 degree view of up to 10 miles. This 6 minute trip lifts up to 30 guests at a time 400 feet in the air.
The cost is $18 for adults and $12 for children (3-9). Operating hours are Sunday-Thursday 10:30 a.m.- 11 p.m. and Friday-Saturday are 10:30 a.m.- 12 a.m.

This is not a large place, but it is a casual lounge setting that offers premium selections of draft and bottled beer, wines, cordials, coffee and tea, and assorted non-alcoholic beverages. Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant
Irish Pub & Restaurant. Raglan Road is one of the newest restaurants at Downtown Disney and is located at the main entrance of Pleasure island. The ambiance and decor make for a really nice setting for dinner. If you don't like listening to a live band when you dine, then you should try to get there early before they start. Photos

T-Rex Cafe
If you like Rainforest Cafe, then you will probably love this place. It's loud, and if you're looking for a nice dinner where you can talk to the people you are with, this might not be the place.

This restaurant operates 11am - 11pm on Sunday thru Thursday and 11am - Midnight on Friday - Saturday. T-Rex has a Build-A-Dino Workshop by Build-A-Bear. T-Rex is part of the Premium, Platinum and Wine and Dine Packages.

Fulton's Crab House

This seafood restaurant is located in the large paddleboat permanently docked at the entrance to Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney.

Serving lunch and dinner, the menu focuses on fresh seafood. Featured items are lobster, crab, oysters, seasonal specials, steak, combination entrees, chicken and shrimp.

Stone Crab Lounge - Located in Fulton's, this lounge offers an Oyster bar, oyster sampler, salads, soups and appetizers.

After close to 20 years in operation, Disney's Pleasure Island is undergoing a major overhaul. They have closed the Adventurer's Club, Comedy Warehouse, 8 Traxx, Motion, Mannequins and BET Sound Stage. Restaurants/shops are planned. Discuss this Story
