Disneyland Paris had planned to start celebrating its 20th anniversary today, March 31, but plans have been overshadowed by the media's coverage of cast members going on strike. A few days ago, four of the unions for the theme park called for a strike to be held on March 30 and 31, over a dispute in pay. The unions want a 4% raise; they have been offered 1.5%. About 50 employees were seen striking in Paris in front of the RER/TGV train station (train goes from Paris to Disneyland), but parkgoers report there hasn't been much disturbance at the parks themselves. Philippe Gas, president of Euro Disney, claims that in the past three years, the company has raise pay by 11%, so this strike is "unjustified."
Disneyland Paris celebrates its official anniversary on April 12.
