Disney's Spirit Award given to Tim Tebow

The "Disney Spirit Award" given to "college football's most inspirational figure" has been awarded to the Florida Gator's quarterback Tim Tebow.

Upon learning he was the winner of the "Disney Spirit Award", Tebow stated "I would like to accept this award on behalf of those who inspire me and give the credit to my Lord, my family, my coaches and my teammates at the University of Florida. I've always been very passionate about football, but it is not going to be my life's work forever and I'd like to think that I am not defined by it."

Disney cited Tebow's humanitarian endeavors in naming him the recipient of this year's award. When football is not in season, the college junior has participated in missionary trips to Thailand, Croatia and the Philippines. Tebow, a devout Christian, has also addressed audiences in the United States.

Tebow is expected to appear at the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards being held at the Walt Disney World Resort on December 11.
