Disney's 2008 financial report filed with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission indicates the company's Orlando theme park's attendance was up 2 percent. While less than the 5 and 6 percent increases from prior years, it beat California based Disneyland which reported the same level of attendance as 2007.

Disneyland's woes further extended to the resort's hotel occupancy levels which were at 88 percent, a 4 percent decrease. Despite these downturns,Disneyland hotel guests spent close to 10 percent more in 2008, averaging $339 per night with theme park per guest spending was up by 2 percent.

At Walt Disney World, a slight 1 percent upswing in hotel occupancy brought that average to 90 percent, with hotel guests spending an average of $223 per night, a 3 percent increase. Spending in the Orlando theme parks was also up by 3 percent.

Overall, Disney's financial statement reports an 8 percent increase in its parks and resorts division. This is due to strong showings by Disneyland Resort Paris and the Disney Vacation Club.
