Disneyland hotel workers have been fasting all week, hoping to catch the attention of management. 11 people(8 Disneyland employees, one family member, and one member of the same union) have been fasting from food all week and only allowing themselves to drink water. They are trying to raise awareness of what they say are life-threatening safety issues during their shifts. The members of Unite Here! Local 11 have not had a contract since February 2008.

They have several complaints about the hotels and say that working conditions have led to heart attacks, strokes, and musculoskeltal injuries. They are also facing cuts in their health insurance.

The fasting workers will stay in front of the Grand Californian Hotel 24 hours a day until an agreement has been reached. They are sleeping in tents and picketing during the day. Local residents and community leaders will speak during the fast at various rallies to persuade Disney to hear the demands of these workers.
