Six-year-old girl falls from balcony at Animal Kingdom Villas

A 6-year old girl is in the hospital after falling from the third-story balcony of her family's room at the Animal Kingdom Villas at Walt Disney World. On the evening of Monday, September 2, the girl's father reports that he was taking a shower and heard his wife scream from the other room. He "ran down the stairwell and jumped over a wall to get to his daughter."

She is thought to be in stable condition now, after being airlifted to a local hospital. The girl's name has not been released. The Orange County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident, though they believe the fall was an accident.

Update 9/7/13: The girl is out of the hospital and is recovering from minor injuries.
