Trick or treating discontinued at Downtown Disney

Downtown Disney in Orlando will no longer be hosting the popular "Happy Haunting" event this year. For the past several years, guests have enjoyed this free trick or treating event on Halloween weekend as a way to celebrate the holiday at Walt Disney World, without paying the ticket prices attached to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom. In addition to the lure of candy, Happy Haunting included photo opportunities, a dance party, and live entertainment such as a storyteller, magician and music.

Zoraya Suarez, a Walt Disney World media relations manager, said, "The event has become so popular - and crowded - that it has outgrown being a good guest experience." Suarez says that Downtown Disney will still celebrate Halloween in October with seasonal decorations and entertainment, as well as fall menu items offered in select restaurants.
