Walt Disney World hotel guests scammed by cab driver

Nankishore Ramkisoon, 53, was arrested last week for picking up guests at the hotels and after receiving round-trip payment, not showing up for the return trip. Ramkisoon was caught by two pairs of undercover detectives. They booked trips through Mears to go to SeaWorld and were each picked up by a white Chevy Astro van and a driver who claimed to be from Mears. According to the report, the driver "asked for $38 for each round-trip fare and gave a false number for the passengers to call for the return trip." He provided a Mears receipt for the trip. He previously worked for Mears, but is no longer employed by the company.
Reports of the scam started surfacing in November, when Disney guests started letting resort employees know what was happening. Disney did reimburse some of the guests for the money they had lost by being overcharged or stranded at their destination.
Ramkisoon is no stranger to the law. In the past decade, he has twice been convicted of "violating the municipal ordinance requiring him to have a vehicle-for-hire permit." He was arrested November 4 on "one count of committing communications fraud and two counts of engaging in a scheme to defraud."
His excuse to detectives was that he knew what he was doing was wrong, but he needed money due to financial problems.
