Saturday, October 1 marks the 40th anniversary of
Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Internet fan communities have been speculating for months about what exciting birthday plans Disney might have in store. Until this week, not much had been released, but Disney has finally shared their plans for the big day.
The morning will start off at 9:45 with a character parade on
Main Street U.S.A. The parade will lead guests to Cinderella Castle, where a 40th anniversary presentation will begin on the Forecourt Stage at 10:00. Walt Disney World president Meg Crofton will speak, popular Disney characters will appear, and Main Street performers the Dapper Dans will sing.
Throughout the day, 40th anniversary merchandise will be available for sale. Several Disney artists will be on hand to sign their work and meet with fans. Signing locations will be Uptown Jewelers on Main Street U.S.A. and the Diamond Horseshoe in
Frontierland. Artists that will be signing are Brent Reese, Greg McCullogh, Noah, Jody Daily and Kevin Kidney, Jim Shore, Gene Gonda, Dave Avanzino, Costa Alavezos, and Robert Olszewski.
Time will tell, but other surprises may be in store for guests of the
Magic Kingdom on Saturday. The celebration will end at 9:00 pm with special anniversary fireworks at the end of the "Wishes" nighttime spectacular.
