For the eighth year in a row, Disney Studios has hit $1 billion at the domestic box office. Disney is the first studio to reach that mark this year, despite the
poor showing of their most recent film, The Lone Ranger. Luckily, the previous three films posted high numbers:
Iron Man 3 made $406 million,
Oz The Great And Powerful made $235 million and
Monsters University has made $225 million so far. There are six more releases planned for the rest of the year, including
Thor: The Dark World,
Frozen, and
Saving Mr. Banks.
